There’s such a thing as anti-ageing chocolate?

In terms of world’s best inventions, this offering from Cambridge University in the UK is pretty darn, well, sweet.

Researchers at the university claim to have created a chocolate that helps you look younger with every bite.

The researchers’ wonder bar, Esthechoc, is a 70 per cent cacao dark chocolate that its creators claim contains as many antioxidants in one 7.5 gram piece as 100 grams of regular dark chocolate or 300 grams of salmon.

Researchers conducted a clinical trial of participants aged between 50 and 60 and asked them to eat a piece of the chocolate every day over 3-4 weeks. They found the participants experienced boosted blood supply to the skin and reduced inflammation.

“In terms of skin biomarkers we found it had brought skin back to the levels of a 20 or 30-year-old. So we’ve improved the skin’s physiology. People using it claimed that their skin was better and we can see that the product is working to slow down aging,” the creator of the product, Dr Ivan Petyaev, told The Telegraph.

Bonus fun fact, the chocolate only has 38 calories.

The chocolate, which will be launched by a Cambridge company called Cambridge Chocolate Technologies (can we have a job please?) hits the market next month in the UK and Europe and will also be sold online.

Though we’re guessing that chocolateski, as it’s going to be marketed as, might cost more than a Mars Bar.
