World’s royals gather for Dutch King’s coronation

Royalty from around the world flocked to Amsterdam yesterday to celebrate the coronation of the Netherlands’ new king.

Glamorous guests including Denmark’s Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary, Britain’s Prince Charles and Camilla, Monaco’s Prince Albert, and Sweden’s Crown Princess Victoria gathered to see Willem-Alexander, 46, and his wife Maxima crowned King and Queen in a lavish formal ceremony.

Willem-Alexander is the European country’s first king for 123 years. He came to the throne when his mother Queen Beatrix abdicated after 33 years as head of state.
