‘Married woman’ at centre of Trump ‘p—y’ video breaks on-air silence

Entertainment Tonight’s Nancy O’Dell says 'I didn't ask to be a part' of this as she addresses Donald Trump's crude comments live on-air.

Entertainment Tonight’s Nancy O’Dell, the “married woman” Donald Trump made crude comments about in the 2005 video which surfaced on the weekend, returned to work on Monday night and addressed the controversy on-air.

As the woman at the centre of the now infamous “p—y” video, which a report in The Washington Post exposed last Friday, Odell referred to a previous written she made statement and repeated her assertion that “there is no room for objectification of women, or anyone for that matter.” She continued, “not even in the locker room.”

“I feel that it’s very important that I address you all directly,” O’Dell, 50, said while opening the show. “As a journalist for 26 years now, it is my job to bring you news about others, rather than turning the focus on myself.

“But by now, I’m sure that most of you have heard the audiotape which became national news and part of the presidential race. My name was mentioned and, unfortunately, the release of it has thrown me into the middle of the political arena of which I didn’t ask to be a part,” she said.

“I released a statement on Saturday and I truly mean what I said,” O’Dell added. “There is no room for objectification of women, or anyone for that matter — not even in the ‘locker room’. The conversation has got to change because everybody deserves respect.”

Donald Trump was making a visit to a soap opera set where he was due to give a cameo appearance and he was caught out with a hot-mic making braggadocios comments about grabbing women by the genitals with then Access Hollywood host, Billy Bush. Bush, who has for the past few months been a host with NBC’s “Today,” has been stood down indefinitely following the controversy.

Donald Trump issued a video statement shortly after the video was uncovered where he said he was “not proud” of the vulgar comments and then went on to excuse the conversation as “locker room banter” in Sunday’s presidential debate.

The release of the video saw a number of high profile Republicans, including Senator John McCain, unendorse their candidate and along with vows they would not to vote for him.
