Sydney New Year's Eve

What are you going to be doing this New Year’s Eve?

In Australia New Year’s Eve celebrations are held in summer time so for the most part us Aussies like to take the party outdoors to enjoy the good weather in our spectacular city backdrops.

Our events attract large crowds and provide fantastic party atmospheres so with many places to choose we’ve listed the hottest parties from around Australia to help you decide where to be on December 31st.

Sail Sydney Harbour: Sydney is where the world looks to first to truly kick off the biggest party night of the year. The harbour city is lit up like a dazzling amphitheatre during the annual fireworks spectacular and while there are lots of locations that give way to a great view anyone who has ever been on the water will argue that a boats vantage point is best. Whether moored near Garden Island or back out near Balmain being on a boat when the New Year arrives is one for the bucket list so why not set sail into 2015? For the best spots visit Sydney New Year’s Eve.

A beach escape: Sailing, cooking, food and wine, seafood, cultural festivals, beach parties – you name it and Airlie beach has it this New Year’s Eve. With what could start out as a day spent sailing and snorkelling on the Great Barrier Reef only to return to a lovely seafood dinner at one of Airlie’s best restaurants and culminate in watching the fireworks display on the beach there is something for everyone at this holiday hotspot. For more info visit Tourism Whitsundays.

Head for the Hills: Combine the happy vibes of a music festival with the ultra-chilled environment of Byron Bay and you find yourself stumbling on the fabulousness that is Falls Festival. What started out as a multi-day music party in Victoria’s Lorne has spread its wings out to the tropical rainforest setting of Byron Bay’s hinterland. With a line-up that always delivers escaping the cities for a camping festival might be the way forward for the more adventurous among us. Falls Festival is held from December 30 until January 03 For tickets visit the Falls Festival website.

Magnificent Melbourne: For those who want to see out the old year in adult only style Melbourne is the spot for you. Leave the kids at home and head out the Victoria’s premiere city which plays host to all kinds of parties, live music events and of course fireworks! But be warned, these celebrations do come at a price with events at Melbourne venues ranging from Free to $250 per person on New Years Eve. For more information see the Melbourne events website.

Go West: Set yourself down beside the Swan River and enjoy and little al fresco dining with a side of sparkles. While the New Year in Perth is welcomed in with an impressive fireworks display New Year’s Day is combined with the Perth Cup Day so the whole city celebrates again. For details on Perth Cup Day visit Perth Racing.

Go for Gold: Ordinarily the white sandy beaches and cool clubbing environments of the Gold Coast make it the party destination for young people but families also flock to the Queensland coast for the festive season. From Upper Coomera in the north to Coolangatta in the south, there is something for everyone to enjoy. If you manage to score sweet apartment with a pool you can make your place party central and watch the beach fireworks from the balcony or head down to the newly refurbished restaurant area of Surfers Paradise which has plenty of New Year’s Eve events to get involved in. For more information visit the Gold Coast website.
