Tom Cruise is still one year away from the big 5-0, but that didn’t stop his wife Kate Holmes from throwing him a lavish surprise birthday party on Saturday.
The actor turned 49 on Sunday, but had not scheduled any celebrations because he had been working such long hours filming his new movie Rock of Ages.

Katie, 32, wasn’t about to let her husband’s big day pass without a party, so she secretly planned an intimate dinner party in Miami on Saturday night.
Forty of the couple’s closest friends attended the bash, which took place at Miami’s exclusive Soho Beach House, the New York Post reports.
Tom’s children Isabella, 18, Connor, 16, and Suri, five, all attended the party, though some celebrity friends, including Jennifer Lopez couldn’t make it.
Guests were treated to an authentic Italian dinner, with Tom’s favourite chocolate cake for dessert. After the meal, revellers took to the dance floor while a Cuban band played traditional music.
