Hugh Jackman has been shaken by a bizarre outburst after a crazed fan interrupted the actor’s morning workout, throwing a razor filled with her pubic hair at the star after tracking him down at his New York City gym.
The woman, a 46-year-old New Yorker named Kathleen Thurston burst into the West Village gym at about 8am on Saturday morning and was physically removed after a declaration of love for Jackman followed by the bizarre attack.
The New York Post reports the alleged stalker was screaming “I love you!” as a trainer from the gym dragged her away from the star.
Wearing khaki pants and a blue hoodie, the deranged woman was said to be hysterically sobbing as she slipped into the gym and made a beeline for the actor.
She shouted her declaration of love for Jackman before reaching into her waistband and hurled the dirty razor at the actor.
A police source reportedly said Jackman thought Ms Thurston was grabbing for a gun or a knife, and quickly backed away from the deranged woman.
“She was crying,” Mike Castle, a trainer who witnessed the attack told The Post.
“I physically removed her from the place, then I called the cops.”
Police reportedly arrived at the scene and caught up with the woman a few blocks away where she was arrested and charged with stalking and taken to Manhattan Criminal Court.
DNA testing found the pubic hair the woman had hurled at her obsession matched her own.
Ms Thurston, whose address is listed as a shelter for the mentally ill, is said to be known to Jackman — sources say this incident was not the first time she had tried to attack him.
The same woman once allegedly showed up at Jackman’s West Village home where he lives with wife Deborra-Lee Furness, and Jackman had told police he has seen her outside him seven-year-old daughter Ava’s primary school.
