Michael Douglas is reportedly preparing to announce he has ended his 13-year marriage to Catherine Zeta-Jones.

The 68-year-old actor — who is currently holidaying alone in Sardinia — will release a statement confirming his marriage is over in the few days, the UK’s Daily Mirror newspaper reports.

“Michael is going to announce the split soon,” an insider allegedly told the publication. “Catherine is fighting to save the marriage but he’s had it.”

Michael and Catherine, 43, have not been pictured together in public for four months.

His spokesperson refused to confirm or deny the claims, saying simply: “I won’t talk about that.”

Rumours the couple’s marriage is on the rocks have been swirling for months.

They have certainly been through a lot in recent years — Michael battled throat cancer in 2011 and Catherine went through two highly-publicised stints in a treatment facility for bi-polar disorder shortly afterwards.

The couple married in a lavish ceremony at New York’s Plaza Hotel in 2000. They have two children, Dylan, 13, and Carys, 10.
