There are plenty of talented actresses in Hollywood but only a handful of female stars have been nominated for a 2014 Primetime Emmy award.

Homeland‘s Claire Danes was listed for best actress in a drama series, along with actresses including Downton Abbey‘s Michelle Dockery and Scandal’s Kerry Washington, Scandal.

Melissa McCarthy got the nod for her role on Mike & Molly in the category of best actress in a comedy series, while Modern Family‘s Julie Bowen was nominated for supporting actress (comedy).

Jane Fonda performance in The Newsroom has her up for guest actress in a drama series and Helena Bonham Carter for her portrayal of Elizabeth Taylor in Burton and Taylor.

The winners will be announced on August 25.

Melissa McCarthy received a nomination for her role on Mike & Molly.

Modern Family star, Julie Bowen is up for an Emmy in the supporting actress, comedy category.

Christina Hendricks has been nominated for Mad Men in the supporting actress drama series category.
