Actress Katie Holmes has admitted that she was “a very nervous mother” after welcoming her daughter Suri in 2006 with actor Tom Cruise.
The 35-year-old star, who is on the cover of the September issue of DuJour magazine revealed her admiration for mums that bounce back after the birth of a child and return to work.
“I totally admire women who go back to work six weeks after giving birth but when she was little, I was not ready,” the actress told the magazine.
“I was a very nervous mother — like, sleeping next to her crib — and I was in that mode for a long time.”
Katie, who is starring in The Giver, divorced Tom in 2012 and has since taken on only a handful of acting roles to give herself more time with her daughter.
But she said actors don’t really have a choice in the roles they get.
“You have dry spells, and then you have times when there is a lot of opportunity.”
