Pregnant Duchess confirms official engagements as royal baby’s due date nears

With just weeks to go until the arrival of her second baby it's business as usual for the Duchess of Cambridge who is busy with official royal duties.

With just weeks to go until the arrival of the second royal baby the Duchess of Cambridge, née Kate Middleton, has confirmed it is still business as usual with engagements booked right up until she goes on maternity leave.

Kensington Place has confirmed that the pregnant Duchess will be visiting the seaside town of Margate in Kent on Wednesday 11 March in what must be one of the last official excursions before the 33-year-old goes on her baby break.

It will be a jam-packed visit with Prince William‘s wife due to call in on the Turner Contemporary gallery to view a special exhibition titled Self: Image and Identity. Among the works on display will be a self-portrait by Sir Anthony Van Dyck, which was recently acquired for the National Portrait Gallery of which Kate is a patron.

Kate has a degree in history of art from St Andrews University and has used her royal position to champion various charities and projects which help young people use art to overcome challenges in their lives.

The Duchess is also a patron of The Art Room – a charity which gives children aged from five and 11 art lessons aimed to build self-confidence, self-esteem and independence through creative expression.

It seems Prince George has also inherited his mother’s love of art after Kate told an audience in Portsmouth earlier this month that she had spent the previous day painting with her one-year-old son and said it was one of his favourite activities.

Business as usual for a very pregnant Duchess of Cambridge who recently visited the Emma Bridgewater ceramic factory to see a mug the company launched in support of East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices on February 18 in Stoke on Trent, England.

The Duchess was given a very warm welcome in Stoke on Trent with this creative sign greeting her at the factory doors.

Off she goes but not the put her feet up. The Duchess has confirmed events she will attend right up until she starts her maternity leave.

Earlier in the month Kate cradled her growing belly as she walked into greet the children at the Cape Hill Children’s Centre in Smethwick, England on Feb. 18.

Earlier in the day the Duchess tried her hand at using a sailing winch simulator as part of her royal visit to Portsmouth to see the construction site of Ben Ainslie Racing new headquarters and visitor centre at the Spinnaker Tower.
