As Bobbi Kristina Brown fights for her life, family gather around her hospital bed as they prepare themselves for their last goodbyes.
It has been almost six days since the 21-year-old was found by partner Nick Gordon, face down and unresponsive in the bathtub of her Georgia home in circumstances so eerily similar to that of her mother, legendary pop Queen, Whitney Houston.
Houston was 48 when she was found drowned in a bathtub at the Beverly Hilton hotel in LA in 2012.
Authorities reportedly found a cocktail of prescription pills in her suite and listed heart disease and cocaine use as contributors – Houston’s battle with substance abuse had been the fodder of media headlines for many years in the lead up to her death.
Bobbi Kristina was Houston only child – her father is American R&B singer-songwriter Bobby Brown – and is the sole heir to the late star’s estate.
Bobbi Kristina was only 18 years old at the time of her mother’s death and in another unsettling coincidence, the three year anniversary since Whitney’s death is just days away on February 11.
Brown has reportedly suffered deep emotional hardship since the death of her mother and now it appears she has fallen victim on the same destructive path, with possession of drugs found in a police search of her home. Investigations continue into what involvement this may have had to the incident.
After Gordon’s attempt of CPR, Brown was immediately rushed to a Roswell hospital, where doctors placed her in a medically induced coma and breathing with the help of a ventilator.
It is said that she has since been moved to Atlanta’s Emory University Hospital where she currently remains in a seriously critical state.
At this stage, few details about Bobbi Kristina’s condition have been released.
A source close to the family has defended rumours that state that Bobbi Kristina has shown “no brain activity”, which is said to be incorrect.
It is also alleged that her life support has been turned off, but this too, is still under speculation.
Although sadly, it appears doctors are not optimistic about the young aspiring singer’s chances.
Her father Bobby Brown, spent his birthday by his daughter’s side.
“Bobby has been crying nonstop since yesterday,” a source close to the family has told People in a statement. “We are grieving.”
“Though it seems the odds are against her, though doctors don’t see any hope for change … though it looks impossible for her to stand again STILL PRAY FOR BK,” Cousin, Jerod Brown wrote on social media.
Whitney Houston still holds the title has one of the bestselling recording artists of all time – famous for dozens of hit songs including “How Will I know”, “I will Always Love You,” and “I Just Wanna Dance With Somebody.”
