Spies in Trotters on the King’s Road in Chelsea, one of Kate’s favourite children’s stores, report the Duchess has been in several times in the past two weeks, snapping up cute items for her five-month-old son.

One jumper, aptly named ‘George’, features a Union Jack flag on the chest and is described as the perfect outfit for “afternoon tea with the Queen”.

Another item, a long-sleeved grey t-shirt, features three Buckingham Palace guards.

“Kate thought they were great fun to give George,” the source told the UK’s Daily Mirror. “He’ll be King one day so the flag is very appropriate.”

William, Kate and George will spend Christmas Day with the Queen and other senior royals at Sandringham in Norfolk.

They are reportedly planning to travel there on Christmas Eve, when the family opens presents before attending a candlelit black tie dinner. They will stay for the Christmas morning church service and traditional lunch, after which everyone gathers around the TV to watch the Queen’s annual Christmas address.

The Cambridges are expected to stay for the annual Boxing Day pheasant shoot before travelling to Kate’s parents’ Berkshire home where they will enjoy some private family festivities.
