Titled Julia Gillard – The Whole Truth, the network promises an “explosive” interview with Ms Gillard, who opens up about becoming Australia’s first female Prime Minister.

In a statement, Channel Nine, said Ms Gillard reveals the truth about the night she challenged Kevin Rudd for the leadership of the Labor Party and his treachery in leaking damaging stories about her.

She also addresses the attack from talkback radio host Alan Jones, who said her father “died of shame”, labelling his comments “cruel and unforgiveable”.

The interview, which coincides with the release of her book, My Story on October 1, is a smart move by Ms Gillard, who personally requested Martin as her journalist of choice.

She also talks frankly about life in The Lodge with partner Tim Mathieson, and claims she would have run a stronger campaign in the 2013 election, if she had remained the Labor leader.
