Frocking shockers: Worst-dressed at the SAG Awards

The worst-ever outfits from the Screen Actors Guild Awards.

The Screen Actors Guild Awards take place right after the Golden Globes but before the Oscars. They are like the middle child of the award season but that doesn’t stop them from conforming to the usual red carpet hits and misses.

While we usually sit, oooohing and ahhhhing  about the fabulousness of Sarah Jessica Parker’s gorgeous gown, or Kate Winslet’s splendid style, let’s remind ourselves that just like us, celebs have some frocking shockers when it comes to special event dressing.

So, on the eve of the Screen Actors Guild Awards this weekend, let’s feast upon some of the spectacular fails from some of our usually well-dressed stars.

Selma Hayek, Kate Winslet, Teri Hatcher and Sarah Jessica Parker made some uncharacteristically bad fashion faux pas over the years.

2000: SJP, is that you we spot? Style icon Sarah Jessica Parker had a rare fashion misstep in this grey pantsuit.

2003: Some critics have commented that Selma Hayek went to the 2003 SAGs dressed as one of Robin Hood’s Merry Men.

2003: Blonde bombshell Elisha Cuthbert unfortunately let this mess of a dress take away from her beautiful hair and makeup.

2008: Jane Krakowski had a shocker in this dress that looked like it had hundreds of peas glued to it.

2008: Oh no! While she was going for a gown to pay homage to the traditional Korean hanbok, Sandra Oh didn’t impress the fashion police.

2009: Teri Hatcher went into the Desperate Housewives wardrobe to fish out this great white Monique Lhullier gown which was more bridal than red carpet.

2000: Frasier star Jane Leeves might be known for her comedic timing but we don’t think she meant for her red carpet get-up to be a gaffe.

2001: What? A double offence? While we will give her credit for this daring midriff-baring ensemble, Sarah Jessica Parker is guilty of a crime against fashion again!

2002: While her body might shame women half her age, Sex and the City star Kim Catrall should have left this look for the club and not the red carpet.

2003: Uma Thurman made an uncharacteristic fashion faux pas at the SAGs in this bright and busy floral frock.

2011: Curvy Christina Hendricks normally knows exactly how to rock a frock but this sparkly L’Wren Scott outfit was unflatteringly ill-fitting.

2011: While she did look pretty in pink, Angie Harmon’s feather frock was a bit too Black Swan for her to fly to the top of the best-dressed list.

2011: When your dress is this devisive, it’s usually not a good thing. Claire Dane’s floral frock certainly had many fashion fans butting heads.

2006: Rom-com queen Katherine Heigl seems to have lost her fashion footing in this doily dress.

2001: Yes. This really is Kate Winslet in a leather shocker. She gets our vote for most improved.

2009: While it was Vera Wang, America Ferrera’s frock was remembered for being unflattering, which is a shame when you look at her lovely hair and makeup.

2005: Unfortunately when you’re always as well-dressed as Kate Winslet, you’re bound to be measured on your best dresses, which makes outfits like this baby blue number look ever worse.

2013: It was a combination of January Jones’s unusual gown and edgy hair that made this Mad Men star miss out in last year’s style stakes.

2005: It’s a brave woman who wears yellow on a red carpet and sadly this was not Mena Suvari’s best style moment.

2002: Debra Messing looked less Graceful and more gladiator on the red carpet and we’re sure that’s not the style statement she was hoping for.

2012: Zoe Saldana’s red carpet looks are usually a fashion highlight but this nod to the 90’s was not one of her best moments.
