Australian transgender model Andreja Pejic has launched a crowdfunding campaign to make a documentary about her life.

The Serbian-born beauty, who underwent sexual reassignment surgery and came out publicly as a woman in July, has teamed up with friend and filmmaker Eric Miclette to create a project that will explore her early life in a refugee camp during the Bosnian War, her gender dysphoria, her high-flying modelling career and her choice to come out as a trans woman.

“I hope that by sharing my humanity, pain, tears, laughter, joy, and biggest struggles on film, it will shed light on what it means to live as a transgender individual,” Pejic writes on her Kickstarter page.

“I have always believed that differences between people should not equal divisions and I simply want to create something that could help build a bridge between my community and the rest of the world,” she added.

At 6ft 2inches, the elfin featured model rose to fame in both men and women’s fashion, appearing in campaigns for Jean Paul Gaultier and Marc Jacobs, but her new agency, Society Management exclusively represents her on the women’s board.

Pejic’s flawless face has also graced the covers of many magazines including edgy fashion title, ID.

The model featured on the spreads of Fiasco, photographed by Justin Wu and earned her first ELLE cover in Serbian ELLE’s January issue.
